She started piano lessons at the age of five; and singing at seven, recording ‘Sweet Nothins’ by Brenda Lee as her first cut. It played in her home town radio station and had the people talking. “Who is this kid?” is what she’d always hear. Well her name is Julia Appleton, and this is her story.

Julia was born in September of 91 in the small town of Apple Valley, California. She started modeling and acting at the mere age of 1. By the age of 5, she had been in national magazines, commercials, billboards, and posters. When her parents decided to give her a break and let her live out her childhood, they moved to a family town, Bend, Oregon.

At seven years old, she started singing. Singing everything. Movie themes, commercial jingles, literally EVERYTHING. She just loved to sing. When her mom finally caught on to her new found talent, she decided that it would be a fun experience to record her singing her favorite songs. In the mean time, her acting agent Mary Grady from California kept calling them, urging them to return to Hollywood and give acting one more try. Willing and eager to pursue Julia’s dreams, they packed their bags and headed back to L.A.

Tons of interviews and call backs passed, but hardly any luck. Feeling a little disappointed, Julia began singing at local events just for kicks. She sang at fairs, restaurants and competitions, inviting her friends and family along to join the fun. But along the way, she started winning the competitions and getting offers to perform at local events more often. With things getting more interesting, she started writing songs with her dad, and recorded her second album with their good family friend and producer, Joe DiBlasi.

Three summers ago, Julia and her dad took a summer vacation up to Clarksville, Tennessee to go sight seeing and visit relatives. On the trip, her cousin Bret Appleton heard the CD, and called his good friend, Alan Butler, the president of Sony Records. They met with Alan and let him hear her CD. He loved the two songs that Julia has written, and told her that if the music business was something that she really wanted to pursue, then she would have to move to Tennessee and get a buzz going, which would mean to write, sing, and perform every chance she got.

Enthusiastic about those words of encouragement, they returned home and decided that if this was her dream, they were willing to move..... again. 20 songs and many performances later, Julia is still writing and performing every chance she gets. Unfortunately, Alan Butler has recently left Sony Records, but she has two other major labels looking at her and with an open door to come and show off more of her songs and recent recordings. Singing is Julia’s dream, and she feels lucky to have great friends and family that will support her all the way. Now at age 13, she is hoping to earn a record deal and share her music with the rest of the world.
